Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland and an international group of supporters is working to raise funds for the restoration of the Jewish cemetery in Trzcianne.

We are proud to have installed a new informational signboard there in 2025.

Trzcianne (טרעסטיני in Yiddish) is a small village not far from Białystok.  At their peak, Jews made up 98% of the population of Trzcianne. The Jewish cemetery was established around 1850 and was destroyed during WWII. The only remnants of its history were modest gravestones that underscored the site's historical significance. When restoration efforts began in 2017, the cemetery was overgrown and lacked any identifying signage.

The restoration project initially included the construction of a stone memorial. In 2024, a newly elected mayor expressed great enthusiasm for the project. She met with the restoration project leader and a representative from FODŻ to discuss and recommence the efforts in partnership with local schools.

Your donation will help preserve this otherwise neglected cemetery and honor the memory of those who are buried there.
