The "New" Jewish Cemetery in Bytom
In January 2022, a storm uprooted an old tree that fell onto the wall of the cemetery, damaging it along a 50-foot length. This wall, as well as structures within the cemetery such as the pre-burial house built around 1890, require repairs. Local volunteer, Tadeusz Wołek, along with a municipal worker, have secured the wall breach with a wire mesh. Mr. Wołek has collected around 1,500 bricks from the broken wall to be reused in the reconstruction.
The estimated cost to fix the wall is $3,800. If funds allow, we will also proceed with repairing the roof of the pre-burial house. Invoices for materials and repair work are available for inspection. Please help us do this work.
